Megan’s Senior Photos – (Sandpoint Photographer)

Recently I worked with Megan to create her Senior Portraits, we started at her home and them took a trip to Garfield Bay to finish up our session.

In Megan’s back yard stands the playhouse that was build by her father when she was little, unfortunately it was used very little ever since the discovery of a spider inside many years ago.  We braved the risk of spiders and I set up a flash inside the small building as well as one outside aimed through the window.  Since the building as well as it’s furnishings were now very small compared to the now adult sized Megan I kept thinking of Alice in Wonderland growing too large for the house she found herself in.  The cards hanging on the wall, minus the Queen of Hearts, seemed quite fitting!

KCC Class of 2012 (Sandpoint Photographer)

The class of 2012 from my church, Kootenai Community Church, will be having a special graduation ceremony in June and they needed a photo of the group for the invitations.  Being spring in North Idaho scheduling a photo shoot with just one person can be hard, add in the often conflicting schedules of 5 busy seniors and you can imagine how hard it might be.  We ended up rescheduling our shoot due to weather or illness at least half a dozen times, but then by what some people would call luck and others providence we had a short break in the rain on a Sunday afternoon and we were able to finally get our photographs.  Here are a few from the afternoon.

Bribing Teenagers (Sandpoint Photographer)

Yesterday I worked with Tim on his senior photos, the second location that we went to was almost perfect, the only problem was that we were not there first.  As you can see in these two test shots a few Teens had claim to the spot that I wanted to use as a backdrop.

As you can see having them in the background does distract a bit from Tim so I thought maybe I might be able to bribe them into vacating their location for a few minutes while I captured some images.   Of course they all have Facebook accounts so I offered to take their portrait for them to use on Facebook.  Here is the payment of my debt to these five teens that were so gracious.

Kelsey Bradbury – Class of 2013 (Priest River Photographer)

This last Saturday I spent a good part of the day with Kelsey taking the first round of her Senior Photos at her grandparents’ home near Priest River.  Kelsey’s Grandfather graciously set up some hay bales for us to use and they worked out great!  You would not have even known it was 40 degrees out as Kelsey braved the cold in a sun dress, cowboy boots and for a few photos her dad’s hat.

Since it was a bit chilly still we are reserving most of our outdoor portraits for the warmer, greener months and spent the majority of our time on some studio style portraits.

The last part of our session we broke out the uniforms and did some sports themed portraits.

I had a great time spending the day with Kelsey, her Mom Sandy and Grandmother Jeanie.  We had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun, I can hardly wait for the weather to get nicer so we can schedule round number two!

Nikki’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Just before the cold and snow found it’s way to North Idaho Nikki and I spend a couple of hours at her home taking her Senior Photos.  Here is a peek at some of the final images.

While Nikki was changing outfits for the photos in the barn her brother Shayne stood in to model for me so I could get the lights in position, here is one of the test shots of him.

Erin’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Erin wanted an urban look to her senior photos and I was happy to oblige.  We had a great spot with a number of different options for us and even got a little creative with the lighting.

On the rest of the photos for this post we used some colored gels on two flashes to create a colored backdrop.

For this last photo we took it a step further.  I set up a couple of gelled lights for the background and then shot one flash through some lattice work to try to give a very different look to the photo by intentionally casting some patterned shadows.

Nick’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Since Nick moved to Sandpoint a little over a year ago I have had the opportunity to capture images of him out on the football field and the basketball court.  Now in his senior year I was honored to have the opportunity to take his senior photos.  Here are some of the final results.

Nick’s brother was gracious enough to volunteer to help me fine tune my lighting while Nick was preparing for the next series of photos.

To finish  out this post, here is a football themed Senior Poster

Weekly Sports Recap (09/12/2011)

My sports coverage was a little lighter this week due to some portrait work and a wedding in Sacramento.   I love shooting sports but I also have to pay my bills so portrait and wedding work always takes priority!  I did make sure to schedule my flights for the wedding so that I would only miss a Saturday’s worth of games though.  Here is this weeks recap of my sports and sports related work this last week.

Tyler’s Senior Photos (Sandpoint Photographer)

Tyler and I arrived at Memorial Field in Sandpoint at the brink of dusk to shoot some dramatic football themed senior photos.  We had to work quickly to be able to get some shots of the victory bell in the background before it became too dark to capture it adequately.

After dark we had the opportunity to do some fun lighting . . .

At the end of our we set up some of my favorite shots of the evening, I put a couple of flashes in the stands to use as a background.  It is very possible that this is the last football season that those stands will be there so years from now I am sure Tyler will look back with fond memories of those stands that have seated thousands of fans for many years.

For the final photo of this post I compiled a Senior Poster mixing together a great shot from our time together and a couple of photos from the last two football seasons.

Jessica’s Senior Photos

I recently had the opportunity to work with Jessica on her Senior Photos.  She picked out some very fun locations and I had so much fun working with her that I almost wanted to cry when our time was up.  We had a great time and think we ended up with some really nice shots!  Here are Jessica’s favorites:

After our shoot my assistant Shea decided he wanted to take a dip, so Shea and Jessica traded roles for a couple of minutes!
